Project settings

Set chart defaults, review usage, and manage project sharing.

Written by Caleb Harris

Project settings control how new charting work behaves, how project-level usage is tracked, and who can access the matter.

Open settings inside the project

Open the project and click Settings in the left sidebar. The page has top-level sections for Charts, Usage, and Sharing. Inside Charts, &AI groups settings into Generation, Layout, Variables, Boilerplate, Citations, Images, and General so you can jump directly to the setting group you need.

Set chart defaults before your team starts charting

Use the Charts section to decide how new charting work should behave in this project. These defaults carry into charts, Andy, and prompt-based tables unless someone overrides them later.

Under General, choose the default AI mode, configure manual citation color, and manage preset save/import actions. Under Generation, decide whether new charts can pull claim text and figure descriptions as citations, whether citations should be auto-accepted, and how many citations can appear per limitation.

Use Layout, Boilerplate, Citations, and Images to control how exports look. This includes page orientation and margins, repeated headers, page numbers, limitation page breaks, boilerplate language, table citation presentation, column layouts, custom column headers, header fill color, citation formatting, screenshots, and image-border settings. Use Variables when you need chart-specific reusable values.

For the full chart-setting reference, see Chart and export settings.

Review project-level usage activity

Use the Usage section when you want to understand how much work the project has consumed. The page shows project-level usage over time, usage events, a date-range picker, and a metric toggle so you can switch between Credits and Credit Cost Equivalent (USD).

If the project uses an allocated budget, the Usage section shows Remaining, Allocated, Spent, and any Over budget amount. Use Budget change to add credits to the project or return unspent allocation to the organization balance. Spent credits stay spent, so you cannot lower the budget below the amount the project already used.

If the project draws directly from the organization balance instead of a dedicated budget, the same section shows the current organization balance, unallocated credits, and project spend so you can tell whether work is coming from the shared pool.

If your organization uses client-matter billing tags, the Usage section can also show the current client matter and, when the project is still untagged, a selector for assigning one. Once a client matter is assigned, it becomes locked so settled and future usage stay tied to the same client.

Control who can access the project

Use the Sharing section to manage project access. Add teammates from your organization, review the current member list, and remove access when someone should no longer be on the matter.

Only organization members can be added to a project. If someone is missing from the picker, make sure they have already been added to your organization account.

Revisit settings as the matter changes

Project settings are not one-time setup. Revisit them when the matter shifts from early investigation to heavier charting, when you need a different export format, when the project budget changes, or when the working team changes.
