Start from the pitch workflow

Use a complaint-driven workflow to build a pitch deck, a draft, or both.

Written by Caleb Harris

This workflow is available on PRO plans and costs tokens to run.

Use the pitch workflow when your starting document is a complaint and the deliverable you need next is a pitch deck, a pitch-related draft, or both. This is the best fit when you want &AI to coordinate search, charting, and deliverable creation in one guided run instead of stitching those steps together manually.

Open the workflow from Drafts

Open the project, go to Drafts, and click New Pitch Deck. That opens the four-step Build a Pitch workflow.

This is different from creating a standard draft from a template. The pitch workflow is complaint-driven and sets up the upstream search and chart work for you before it produces the final outputs.

Upload the complaint PDF

In the first step, upload the complaint PDF. The workflow accepts a PDF and uses it to parse the matter and update case details. If you picked the wrong file, replace it before moving to the next step.

This upload is what makes the run complaint-driven. The rest of the workflow uses the complaint to shape the targets and later deliverables.

Set the search and chart parameters

In the second step, decide how much upstream work &AI should do before it builds the deliverables.

Set Total search results per patent to control how many references &AI should gather. Set Selected references to chart per patent to control how many of those references should move forward into charting. The selected count must stay at or below the total results count.

You can also turn Process claim construction on or off. If you enable it, choose the claim construction mode before continuing.

These choices affect both runtime and output depth, so it is worth setting them intentionally instead of treating them like a last-minute export option.

Choose whether the run should build a deck, a draft, or both

In the Templates step, select the deliverables you want the workflow to create.

For a pitch deck, choose the preset that matches the assignment. The workflow offers preset slide packages such as a fuller deck and a shorter highlights-oriented option.

For a draft, select the pitch-related template you want to use. If that template has dependency questions, the workflow will ask them before the final step so the generated draft includes the right conditional sections.

You can run the workflow for a deck only, a draft only, or both in the same job.

Decide how you want completion delivered

In the last step, choose whether to enable Email notification. If you turn it on, enter the email address that should receive completion updates.

This is useful when the workflow may take time and you do not want to keep the project open while search, charting, and output generation run in the background.

Start the run and review the finished outputs

When the setup looks right, start the workflow. &AI uploads the complaint if needed, starts the background automation, and then searches, charts, and creates the selected deliverables.

After the job finishes, return to Drafts to review the generated draft or pitch deck. That page is also where you can track existing outputs, open drafts, and download finished deck files.

Fix the common setup blockers before you rerun

The workflow will not start without a selected project, a complaint PDF, and at least one deliverable type. If you turned on email notification, you also need a contact email. If you selected Draft, you must pick a draft template before submitting the run.

If you are not sure whether this is the right way to begin the matter, compare it against the other setup paths in Choose the right starting workflow.
