Creating and reviewing charts is available on CORE and higher plans and costs tokens. Uploading charts for review requires a PRO plan.
Use the charts workspace when you need to map patent claim limitations to supporting evidence and keep review in one place. In &AI, the same workspace supports invalidity charts, infringement charts, and self-charting against the target patent, so you can move from source collection to citation review without leaving the project.
The charts area is built for an iterative workflow, not a one-click export. &AI can generate candidate citations and score them, but you still review, approve, reject, annotate, rerun, and export the final chart.
Open the charts workspace
Open a project and navigate to the target patent you want to analyze. From the target page, open the related charts area, or go to the main charts page and click New Chart.
The charts page shows:
a list of charts for the current target or project
summary panels and filters to narrow what is visible
export actions for existing charts
a New Chart button for starting new work
Core chart actions
The charts workspace supports four common workflows.
Create new charts
Use the New Chart flow when you want &AI to chart the current target against prior art documents, infringement evidence, products, or the target patent itself. You choose the chart type, pick references, and configure options such as whether claims or figures should be included.
Build from existing charts
The same modal also includes an Existing path for copying citations from one or more charts into a new chart. This is useful when you want to combine work product, compare approaches, or build a new chart from reviewed citations instead of starting from scratch.
Upload charts for review
If your team already has an invalidity chart as a PDF or DOCX file, the Upload path lets you bring that chart into &AI for review and additional citation work. This upload workflow is available on PRO plans and costs tokens.
Review and refine citations
Once a chart exists, open it to review AI-generated citations, approve or reject suggestions, edit citation context, add annotations, and rerun chart generation with new instructions. That makes the charts workspace both the creation surface and the quality-control surface.
Chart lifecycle
Most charts move through the workspace in this order:
Choose the target patent and open the charts area.
Start a chart by creating one, copying from existing work, or uploading a chart for review.
Let &AI process the selected sources and generate candidate citations.
Review citations limitation by limitation, including strength indicators and review state.
Update the chart if you need different citations, different scope, or new instructions.
Export the finished work when the evidence is ready.
Chart quality improves through review. Treat the workspace as iterative: generate, inspect, annotate, update, and only then export.
Chart workspace controls
Across the charts page and chart modals, you work with:
chart type choices for invalidity versus infringement
source selection for documents or products
mode choices that balance speed and reasoning depth
options for claims, figures, auto-accept behavior, and result count
citation review actions such as approve, reject, edit context, and annotation
update controls for rerunning the chart with new instructions
Depending on the chart and view, you may also switch between table, claim, document, and PDF-oriented review layouts. Each view supports the same core task: deciding which citations belong in the final chart.
From here, create a chart for new work, review and edit chart citations on an existing chart, rechart if the first pass needs refinement, or upload source materials if the right evidence is not yet in the project.
